- Insubria: where everything took shape
Università degli Studi Dell’Insubria and CoeLux
It was 2001 when a small team of physicists began to study and reproduce all the meteorological phenomena in the laboratories of the University of Insubria, under controlled conditions and using lasers and nano-particles.
The subsequent fund raising activity promoted by the university and the management of international-scale research projects were vital to develop the subsequent technologies. The University of Insubria believed in CoeLux by funding the creation of the first prototypes. The cornerstone was in 2014 when CoeLux technology was presented for the first time and was immediately met by approval from the market. From then on, the next step involved the constant implementation of a more solid and articulated structure to make the Spin-off a real start-up company.
To this day, interaction between the R&D team of CoeLux and the University still fundamental with a high level of technological exchange that promotes collaboration between students, PhD students and professionals.
Università degli Studi dell’Insubria: Science and High Technology Dep.
University mission: high quality education and high quality facilities in a student-friendly environment, combined with high level research performed by international groups to develop innovative technology and solutions.
The University of Insubria was founded in 1998 and today has 7 departments and 11,000 students enrolled. The Department of Science and High Technology was born in 2011 from the merger of three departments (Physics and Mathematics, Chemical and Environmental Sciences and Environment Health and Safety). In DiSAT basic research merges with applied research, completing hard sciences with the contribution of other disciplines, promoting interdisciplinary research and training students with a 360-degree scientific vision.
On the third floor, near the administrative offices, CoeLux® LS Array systems have been installed along a corridor. The long, narrow, windowless space was illuminated by LED spotlights before. Today, thanks to CoeLux lighting, is a wider area. The indirect lighting on the wall and the blue sky give the feeling of natural light, as if there were real windows. The lighting blends in perfectly with the natural light in the adjacent office spaces, fitted with large real windows.
Anyone passing through the beautiful city of Como and wanting to experience CoeLux technology can pass freely through the university and visit us.
CoeLux® LS Array: the endless possibilities of the sky
CoeLux LS Array is part of the CoeLux LS family of systems, consisting of a long window in which appears a sun with shaded outlines seems to follow the observer: a play of optics creates the illusion of a slight movement that gives realism to the system. Sensed at an infinite distance, the CoeLux sun LS diffuses a beam of light at 45 degrees which creates a soft spot of light on the wall or in the surrounding environment. CoeLux LS is dimmable up to 0.1% and allows you to configure the light intensity according to the user’s needs, recreating a natural and comfortable atmosphere.
CoeLux LS Array is added to LS Ice and LS Matte systems offering greater versatility than allows to create long corridors of sky and to install it in multiple modalities for a greater design freedom.
Each module is interrupted by a small geometric element that divides the window into two equal parts. The light projection on the wall, interspered with small areas of shadow, gives an extremely realistic effect to the composition, creating fascinating games of light. The versatility of CoeLux LS array allows you to create some scenic split of sky.
